Registration for the conference opened up tonight (I saw that on Inspire) so I went downstairs and got signed up. Of course, I went shopping - racer T-shirt for me, polo for Alek, T-shirts for Bob and Olyvia and a bracelet for myself. On my way back up to the room, I ran into a group of "Meddies." I have so much respect for the Meddies - I'm blessed with a highly treatable form of Thyroid cancer, while they deal with a form that requires surgical interventions. I found out that a family of Meddies that I recalled from the last conference I attended (some Medullary form runs in families) - the mom has passed on - leaving behind her children who had their thyroids removed as children to hopefully avoid the disease. Their dad had died too in an accident. Such a humbling experience - that's what I recall mostly from when I attended this event in 2004 - it's humbling.
I'm going to review the conference agenda and circle all the sessions I want to attend. I'll blog more when I can.
