Helpful Hints for when not feeling well

These things have worked for me:

I felt good too until about 11 months after my TT. I discovered after years of figuring it out that it was really the emotional reaction to the cancer diagnosis along with being on so much Synthroid that my TSH was close to zero all the time. I found a balance of things that helped. T'ai Chi. Talk therapy. Taking an SSRI if that works for you. Taking a very low dose beta blocker (I use 10 mg. Inderal twice daily). Eating foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids (so long as not on the LID) including Salmon, Tuna, walnuts, flax seed oil. Slowly lowering my dose over the years helped too (Synthroid). Recently with a recurrence, I am adding more T4 back into my routine (first Synthroid, now Tirosint). Tirosint has been helpful as well as eating a Brazil nut - one per day - rich in Selenium to help convert T4 to T3. T3 is where our energy comes from. For the body aches, I use Epsom salts baths and an occasional massage. On the tender points (mine travel around my body - this "season" it's my trapezoid muscles on both arms) I massage in Epsom Lotion and/or Ketoprofin Gel (need a Rx for that one, and get it at the compound pharmacy - NuCara carries it). I also do myofacial release on the tender points too. It's a process - but overall I feel really good when I stay on top of things. Keep working to find YOUR new normal! dj
