I wish the doctors would listen!

So, with the elevated PTH hormone, yet normal calcium, I'm in an odd place.  Elevated PTH usually has elevated calcium.  So, it's a bit of a mystery.  The side effects of elevated PTH include muscle and bone aches, bone loss, acid reflux, etc.  Well, that sounds like me!  So, I reached out to the endocrinologist who is comfortable doing nothing for now and rechecking the blood work next year.  So, I reached out to my PCP who speculates I have primary hyperparathyrodism (I think I have secondary) but she prefers to leave things up to the endocrinologist.  So, the doctor who has the primary role here wants to wait.  In the meantime, I continue to lose height...two inches now.
Today I did do my second DEXA scan - bone density.  It's an easy test.  I don't have results.  The one I did in 2008 said I have osteopenia - bone loss - this usually leads to osteoporosis.  We'll see what the scan done today tells us.  In the meantime, I'll just keep living with lower back pain, upper back pain, hip pain, wrist pain, etc. and thank my lucky stars that I'm still here to deal with these aches and pains!!  :-)
